High-Level Conference on the Data Economy, 25 to 26 November 2019

We believe that data is at the core of the digital economy. As the European Commission has laid out a vision for building a European data-driven economy, we believe that we must continue this work — and even increase our level of ambition. We aim to keep data issues high on the agenda during Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During the Presidency, we are organising a High-Level Conference on the Data Economy to be held on 25 and 26 November 2019 in Helsinki, Finland.

This open discussion platform about our principles for a human-centric, fair and thriving data economy is one way to fuel discussions on the data economy. At the end of the conference, Finland will release its Presidency conclusions on the data economy and provide recommendations to the European Commission on horizontal data principles for a European data economy.

The conference will be organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The agenda will focus on a human-centric data economy and include a broad spectrum of concrete examples of data ecosystems, data sharing, the platform economy, future development and policy aspects.
